General description

The MQuant® Sulfide test (formally MColortest®) can be used for the determination of sulfide in e.g. •Groundwater and surface water•Drinking water and mineral water•Waters from aquaculture•Wastewater•Soils after appropriate sample pretreatmentThis test is not suited for seawater.MethodIn aqueous solutions of sulfides a pH-dependent equilibrium exists between dissolved hydrogen sulfide (H2S), hydrogen sulfide ions (HS-), and sulfide ions (S2-). In the acidic range, in which practically only dissolved hydrogen sulfide is present, this reacts with dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine and iron(III) ions to form methylene blue. The sulfide concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the color of the measurement solution with the color fields of a color card. The unique brilliance of the print and their fine color graduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentration range.Due to the long test tubes a sensitive measurement range can be covered. Using the refill pack 1.18468 containing all the reagents, the original test kit can be used for a very long time, making it a particularly economical and ecological system.

Method: colorimetric with color card and comparator block with long test tubes 0.02-0.04-0.06-0.08-0.10-0.13-0.16-0.20-0.25 mg/l S MQuant®
