Trainee Field Engineer (Laboratory Equipment)

Reporting to: Pete Ball Service Centre & Projects Manager

Closing Date: Friday 28th June

The Role: On offer is a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Service Engineer to join a specialist, Niche Service Centre who will invest in your training and development to ensure you and the company stay at the forefront of their industry. 

The company is growing year on year and therefore is looking to expand its service team. We are looking for an organised individual with a keen eye for detail who can work under pressure. An individual with a 'can do' attitude, willing to learn new skills and be a successful contributor to a rapidly growing department. You must be able to work well within a team as well as organise and motivate yourself.

Duties:

  • Mechanical & electrical service, repair and installations
  • Covering the UK mainland
  • Attend manufacturer training as and when required by the company
  • Reporting to customer’s site at the time and date specified to carry out; service, repairs, installation of laboratory equipment as designated by service centre manager.
  • Ensure close communications with customers
  • Carry out in-house repairs/ installations as required by the company.
  • Any other service centre related tasks deemed necessary 

Key skills and Attributes:

  • Good electrical &/or mechanical knowledge
  • Full Clean UK Driving License 
  • The flexibility to work varied hours as and when required
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to perform
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Self-motivated and driven

  • Cryogenic Knowledge/ Experience would be an advantage

Quotations and Tenders Administrator

Reporting to: Quotations and Tenders Manager

Closing Date: Friday 21st June

Salary: Depending upon experience

Job Summary: A keen and committed individual is required to work as part of the Quotation and Tenders team. The successful applicant will be supporting other members of the Q&T team as well as Internal & external sales colleagues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • To take information sent in various formats from the sales team and produce a high-quality quotation for the customer (Primary resource for this)
  • To keep and maintain an electronic filing system of all quotes produced internally and externally.
  • To collate information from previously cross-referenced files and add it into the master cross-referencing database.
  • To support the team when producing tender responses, as required.
  • To produce and maintain management information reports required by the business on a monthly basis.
  • To maintain a central technical library consisting of both product information and process information required for quotations and tenders 
  • To ensure the Manager is provided with up to date work-in-progress information.
  • To ensure compliance with the official works procedure and adhere to the departments' commitment to work towards continuous improvement.
  • To commit to individual training and development plans for yourself and the team.
  • To maintain SLS reputation for first class personal service.
  • To support the Sales Office team when required 
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests detailed by your Manager.

Ideal Candidate:

 

  • To have good communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong Customer Service Ethic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and driven.

Minimum Qualifications & relevant experience:

  • Highly PC literate and a good knowledge of MS Office, particularly excel and word.
  • Any previous front line customer service or quotation support experience would be an advantage.
  • Desirable – Maths and or English GCSE or equivalent.

Territory Sales Manager (Team South)

Reporting to: Regional Sales Manager (Hayley Holmes)

Job Summary: Selling Laboratory Consumables, Chemicals, Reagents and Equipment into Oxfordshire, Bucks, Beds and Herts (west side of M1). Flagship account being the University of Oxford. 

This is a prestigious territory within the SLS Sales Team, being one of that largest from a monetary perspective. This territory also has the added benefit of supporting a Single Source Supply Contract for one of the leading brands in the scientific market into the University of Oxford. 

The Successful candidate will be expected to meet & exceed target expectations on a well-developed and performing territory by selling and promoting the vast portfolio of product offering such as; general lab supplies, liquid handling consumables and equipment, life science product range, capital equipment and chemicals. 

A key component of success will be close coordination and collaboration with a team of product specialists leading these product segments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, high energy salesperson to join our innovative and fast-paced business. An individual with a 'can do' attitude who can hit the ground running and be a successful contributor to a rapidly growing organisation. You must be able to work well within a team as well as organise and motivate yourself.

Key skills and attributes  

  • Has a minimum of 2 years field sales experience which ideally would be within academia and research, Biotech, clinical and Pharma or industrial laboratory environments.
  • Has a scientific background or understanding (this would be beneficial but not essential).
  • Can take responsibility for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers,
  • Able to prioritise workload. 
  • Can provide a high level of support and service to existing accounts
  • Shows the necessary enthusiasm to grow territory performance by approaching new and prospective customers, be it by arranging prior appointments or by 'cold-calling’
  • Has a proven track record of success within a sales environment.
  • Displays a self-motivated and driven personality.
  • Has good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Has a full clean UK driving licence.

Chemical Sales Manager

Position Summary:  

Responsible for sales of the SLS Chemical product portfolio, your primary role will be to grow chemical revenues via both direct selling effort with key customers and through the provision of support and training for our wider sales team.  

SLS carry a portfolio of leading chemical brands and the successful applicant will lead the continued growth of this important part of our business. Previous demonstrable field sales success and an in-depth knowledge of the laboratory chemicals market are essential.  

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Achieve target revenues set by the company
  • Support and train the SLS general sales team to grow chemical sales
  • Visit customers directly to promote and sell the product portfolio
  • Liaise with Chemical Manufacturers to build  and deliver on sales plans

Life Science Sales Specialist – Scotland and the North East

Position Summary

This role is at the forefront of driving the sales of all Life Science Products directly to customers and via the Field Sales Team in Scotland and the North East. The ideal candidate would have an extensive knowledge of the Life Science sector ideally with research experience in the cell biology and/or molecular biology. Previous selling experience is preferable.     

Primary Duties         

  • Achieve Sales target set by the company
  • Visit customers to promote and sell the SLS Life Science range
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Force
  • Support the Field Sales Team with customer visits and demonstrations or any other required field activity
  • Attend joint customer visits with our key supplier Account Managers
  • Work with key suppliers and the TSM/RSM’s to create selling strategies and regional Marketing Promotions
  • Monitor personal sales against target for the Life Science product range

Attributes & Skills Required

  • Broad experience of Life Science consumables and equipment across all disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of Life Science Research and it’s applications
  • Relationship builder

Customer Services Coordinator

As an integral part of a busy Customer Service Team you will be required to offer full support to customers and sales managers within an allotted region of the country. You will be responsible for supporting our customers with their daily enquiries, placing their orders and resolving any queries they may have to a very high standard. An essential part of your role is to learn and understand the requirements of your sales manager and customers through building relationships, delivering service excellence and exceeding expectations.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Deliver a first class customer experience 
  • To be able to communicate clearly and have the ability to work closely with your Sales Manager and other internal departments in order to ensure continuity of service and assure delivery in a timely and efficient manner
  • Place orders and ensure that your customer is kept up to date at all times with the progression of their order
  • Manage and prioritise own work load Take ownership to ensure tasks are completed fully
  • Achieve pre-defined KPI’s and targets
  • Work to ISO 9001 standards
