Technical Support Executive – SLS Select Education

Job Summary

SLS Select Education require a Technical Support Executive based at our Nottingham office to help us to continue growing our business and supporting our customers. The following position is now available.

As Technical Support Officer for our SLS Select Education team you will have the key role of providing technical support and advice to both colleagues and customers. Prior knowledge and experience of school laboratory equipment is highly desirable for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

The varied nature of this role means that as Technical Support Executive you will be expected to: 

  • Provide technical support on a wide range of school science equipment via phone and email directly to our school customers.
  • Give technical support to internal staff (customer services, after-sales and sales team) so they can ensure technical queries are dealt with efficiently and accurately.
  • Work with the marketing team to give technical advice on the production of marketing collateral including catalogue, website and other marketing literature.
  • Assist product management with the evaluation of product sales data and assembly of new product information.
  • Support the sales team at exhibitions & conferences with occasional customer visits.

Ideal Candidate

As a member of the SLS Select Education team you will be self-motivated and keen to thrive on the flexibility and ownership we give to our staff.   

Skills required for this role include:

  • Written and verbal communication skills – should be good or excellent.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of school science equipment – e.g. experience as a School Laboratory Technician or a science graduate with a demonstrable flair for practical science.
  • Very confident in the use of Excel & Word – training on in-house software packages will be given.
  • Comfortable handling of large amounts of product data acquired from a variety of sources
  • Highly intuitive when faced with unfamiliar apparatus including software based products
  • Full UK driving licence – not essential but is desirable as there is occasional requirement for travel around the UK.

Select Education Technical Sales Representative – South West

You will be the face of the company selling and supporting a broad range of science products and services to schools and colleges in the region.

Select Education Technical Sales Representative - M62 and North

You will be the face of the company selling and supporting a broad range of science products and services to schools and colleges in the region.

Pricing Coordinator

Position Summary:

As a key position within the Pricing Team, this role will focus on supporting fellow colleagues within the department and ensuring internal customer relationships are maintained. Strong attention to detail and IT skills are key to ensure business continuity and data accuracy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing team work flow and distribution
  • Analysis, reporting and loading of company data on to internal and external systems and marketplaces
  • Identify and resolve problems which arise within the pricing element of the business; ensuring processes are managed to reduce reoccurrence
  • Supporting the Pricing team
  • Collate and present data to various areas within the business
  • Design and develop new and existing pricing processes and strategies
  • Support other business functions to ensure they conform with company pricing rules
  • Monitoring and policing of company margin policy
  • Provide accurate and timely information to different areas of the business drawing from various sources
  • Supporting other areas of business support function

Life Science Sales Specialist – Southern Territory

Position Summary

This role is at the forefront of driving the sales of all Life Science Products directly to customers and via the Field Sales Team in the Southern Territory. The ideal candidate would have an extensive knowledge of the Life Science sector ideally with research experience in the cell biology and/or molecular biology. Previous selling experience is preferable.     

Primary Duties         

  • Achieve Sales target set by the company
  • Visit customers to promote and sell the SLS Life Science range
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Force
  • Support the Field Sales Team with customer visits and demonstrations or any other required field activity
  • Attend joint customer visits with our key supplier Account Managers
  • Work with key suppliers and the TSM/RSM’s to create selling strategies and regional Marketing Promotions
  • Monitor personal sales against target for the Life Science product range

Attributes & Skills Required

  • Broad experience of Life Science consumables and equipment across all disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of Life Science Research and it’s applications
  • Relationship builder
  • Strong negotiation skills

Territory Sales Manager (Team South)

Position Summary:

Selling Laboratory Consumables, Chemicals, Reagents and Equipment into a London based territory within our Southern Sales Team.  

The successful candidate will be expected to meet/exceed target expectations as a whole and also by product segments in established product areas such as  liquid handling, life sciences, capital equipment, chemicals and clinical.     

A key component of success will be close coordination and collaboration with a team of product specialists leading these product segments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, high energy sales person to join this innovative and fast paced business. An individual with a 'can do' attitude who can hit the ground running and be a successful contributor to a rapidly growing company. You must be able to work well within a team as well as organise and motivate yourself.  

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Has a minimum of 2 years field sales experience which ideally would be within academia and research, Biotech, clinical and Pharma or industrial laboratory environments (this is preferred but not essential)
  • Has a scientific background or understanding (this would be beneficial but not essential)
  • Can take responsibility for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers
  • Can provide a high level of support and service to existing accounts Shows the necessary enthusiasm to grow territory performance by approaching new and prospective customers, be it by arranging prior appointments or by 'cold-calling’
  • Has a proven track record of success within a sales environment
  • Displays a self-motivated and driven personality
  • Has good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Has a full clean UK driving licence
