  • Credit Controller / Accounts Receivable

    Are you a proactive and driven Credit Controller with great communication skills? Can you manage and support company credit control by taking responsibility of your own book of debtor accounts?

    We have an exciting opportunity available for a Credit Controller to join our finance team based in Hessle, on a full time, permanent basis.

    Job Summary:

    As our Credit Controller, you will join the SLS Finance team and contribute to all areas within the finance function. The successful candidate will be primarily asked to support the busy credit control function in the office but must be willing to provide support as needed to other areas of the finance function which will include communicating with colleagues, external parties, customers, and vendors.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Using all forms of communication (email, letters, and telephone) to professionally contact debtors and ensure payment of outstanding invoices
    • Supporting the ongoing process to credit check new customers and open new credit accounts ensuring the company has all the relevant information
    • Supporting and resolve all problems experienced in the credit control function including providing copy invoices, obtaining proof of delivery
    • Working closely with colleagues in Sales and Customer Services to resolve any customer queries and enquiries to progress matters to a satisfactory conclusion
    • Reporting regularly to Accounts Office Manager on outstanding issues and promptly inform on potential debtors’ problems
    • When required, helping colleagues manage the “slsledger” email inbox, resolving enquiries quickly and effectively and to pass enquiries onto colleagues in both Finance and other departments for resolution
    • Maintaining financial system records and enter data accurately

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Prior experience working in a finance function preferred but not essential
    • Comfortable with IT
    • Interpersonal skills, appreciation of good internal and external customer service behaviour

  • Clinical Business Manager

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Business Manager to join our innovative & fast paced business covering UK & Republic of Ireland.  In this role you will have full autonomy over a key sector of our business with established sales/relationships. This role has huge potential for sales growth and to be part of a rapidly growing company at a very exciting phase of our development.

    Job Summary:

    We are looking for someone that can work independently, build good relationships and is well organised to help take our Clinical business to the next level.

    The position is a mix between account management, business development and providing strategic leadership to support the existing sales force in growing the clinical business in their territories.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide training, guidance and strategy to help the wider sales force grow their sales.
    • Be the go-to person for the Clinical sector.
    • Organise marketing campaigns, assist with product/supplier launches, attend/exhibit at relevant events and provide training to the sales team.
    • Comfortably speak with senior procurement contacts within the NHS and have an understanding of how these procurement processes/contracts work to enable them to negotiate effectively.
    • Analyse sales data, identify market trends and use this information to grow the business.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    Although this role requires a variety of competencies, we recognise that not everyone will necessarily have all of these skills on day one. So, we are willing to consider a wide range of individuals with different experience levels who show the potential to learn the additional skills over time.

    Examples of the type of person we’d consider include:

    • Existing Sales, Account management or business development experience
    • Existing laboratory experience in the Clinical sector but no sales experience
    • Existing experience of working in a procurement function within the clinical sector but no laboratory or sales experience

    Nice to have:

    • Prior history of managing complex projects working as part of cross functional teams
    • Sales experience selling into the Clinical sector
    • Experience of working with NHS Supply chain, NHSBT and relevant managed service providers
    • Understanding of Clinical tenders/frameworks with experience of winning new business
    • Understanding of clinical laboratories and their various workflows
    • In depth technical experience of anatomical pathology/histology, haematology, medical microbiology, cytogenetics and/or associated clinical biomedical techniques  

    A Full driving licence is essential as visits to customers sites and attendance at conferences/exhibitions across the UK and ROI are expected. A mainland UK central location is preferred but not essential.

    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities:

    Review and Analysis:

    • Work with Middle Managers to identify current data management systems and operational procedures that AI can improve.  Serve as liaison between stakeholders and project teams, delivering feedback and enabling team members to make necessary changes

    Operational Procedure Enhancement:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and refine these improved procedures

    Monitoring & Iteration:

    • Regularly monitor the performance of AI solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed established benchmarks
    • Continually refine AI models based on performance metrics and feedback from internal stakeholders

    Training & Collaboration:

    • Provide training to teams and stakeholders on new AI-driven procedures and tools.

    Staying Updated:

    The Ideal Candidate: 

    • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Group Design and Publications Manager and collaborating closely with the wider marketing team to support in the production of all promotional materials company wide – print and digital. This includes:

    • Producing a range of printed materials for Group entities such as brochures, flyers, posters and stationery
    • Assisting in the production of various printed catalogues including a yearly 672-page catalogue for the Education market, as well as ad-hoc specialist publications
    • Supporting the wider Marketing team in the creation of artwork for various exhibitions and trade shows – including the biennial Scientific Laboratory Show and Conference. This includes creating stand designs, pull up banners, POS, promotional items, floorplans, programmes, adverts and signage.
    • Creating company adverts (both print and digital) for Group entities to be featured in external publications such as Labmate and Lab News
    • Producing branded packaging and datasheets for SLS Private Label products
    • Working with the Marketing and Digital Marketing teams to create digital content and campaign graphics for use on social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook), company websites, Outlook signatures and MailChimp marketing emails
    • Ensuring brand consistency and accuracy in all marketing materials appropriate to each entity
    • Using existing design templates as well as developing new artwork
    • The production of style guides and SOPs as needed

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Graphic design experience with a strong eye for visual composition.
    • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat.
    • Excellent attention to detail (including proof reading).
    • Well organised, capable of planning and prioritising workload to ensure deadlines are met. Ability to work under pressure. Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.

    Job Summary:

    As a Digital Marketing Executive, you will be part of our dynamic Marketing team, reporting to the Group Digital Marketing Manager and working closely with the wider marketing team to develop and implement our digital marketing strategies, managing online advertising campaigns, conducting market research and competitor analysis, managing social media presence, content creation and management, website management and optimisation and email marketing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Procurement Manager and collaborating closely with the wider business the Procurement Assistant will play pivotal role supporting our fast moving, dynamic Procurement Team in the progressing of orders.

    • Contacting Suppliers to expediate delivery of goods and update Purchase Orders on our ERP System.
    • Support with Delivery Discrepancies.
    • Arrange collections from suppliers using our Internal fleet of vehicles.
    • Encourage continual improvement of all activities within the Procurement Department, allowing for the development of relationships between internal and external stake-holders.
    • Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure needs are met to mutual satisfaction and end user satisfaction.
    • Promoting the department to other internal departments, with can do attitude.
    • Providing cover for other members of dept. during holidays and illness.
    • Support with tendering opportunities
    • Adopt a pragmatic approach to Continuous Improvement by learning from our past experiences with a view to making things better for future projects.  Incorporate these learnings into appropriate systems  and processes and drive a continuous improvement ethos across our internal and external stakeholders.
    • Take up any other related projects and lead as requested by the Procurement Manager.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Maths and English to GCSE or equivalent.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and suppliers.
    • Capable of influencing and working with staff at all levels to drive change.
    • Highly competent/computer literate with a number of Microsoft Office applications and relevant software packages.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Be able to motivate yourself and possess self-management skills.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Shop Retail Manager to join our innovative and fast-paced business on a permanent basis. You will have a 'can do' attitude who can hit the ground running and be a successful contributor to a rapidly growing company.

    Job Summary:

    You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the dedicated SLS laboratory supplies shop. Based out of the UK’s largest single-site life science campus, Alderley Park, you will be the face of SLS and the go-to person for the global leaders in life science based at the park. Providing timely access to critical lab supplies, maintaining inventory and facilitating seamless transactions for the scientific community within the park, allowing them to focus on driving their research forward.

    This role would suit someone who has previous experience working in a trade counter, reporting to the Key Account Business Manager, with support from the local Territory Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager and Product Specialists from SLS, this brand-new position will be based on the Park 5 days a week and will be instrumental in building SLS’ reputation with global leaders in life science.

    Key Responsibilities:

    You will be the primary point of contact for the customer, managing day to day activities such as sales order entry, chasing outstanding orders, resolving complaints, handling enquiries, managing delivery expectations.

    Motivated and pro-active in your approach to work and integral to the success of the shop performance, driving business and generating new sales within new and existing customer accounts.

    • Responding and nurturing relationships with customers who visit the shop
    • First point of contact, representing the company and maximising sales opportunities through effective engagement, communication, quality products, and competitive pricing
    • Manage incoming calls and emails to the shop store, in a timely manner to support customer demand
    • Maintain an organised and well-stocked inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, equipment, and consumables. Monitor and record stock levels and replenish items as needed
    • Provide product information, answering queries, and providing suggested product recommendations
    • Process, acknowledge and progress orders placed by the companies on-site
    • Ensure all required documentation and processes are followed from receipt of order through to delivery e.g. printing delivery notes to accompany orders
    • Delivery of goods to the laboratories around the site                                         
    • Ensure that relevant items are rotated to minimise waste and that expired products are removed from the inventory
    • Organise demos and promotional activity
    • Perform routine quality checks on products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. Handle any returns or exchanges as necessary
    • Utilise inventory management software to track stock levels, order history, and generate reports as needed to inform purchasing decisions
    • Keep the onsite shop clean, organised, and visually inviting to passers by. Ensure a safe and accessible shopping environment for all customers

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Previous experience of managing a shop/trade counter                                                     
    • Knowledge of laboratory supplies and the biotech industry is a strong asset                        
    • Previous Account management or customer service experience  
    • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills                                          
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities                                                     
    • IT competent, Word, CRM, social media capabilities & in particular Excel to be able to present information clearly as well as manipulate existing spreadsheets of data

  • Field Service Engineer

    Job Summary:

    This is a full-time field-based role, supporting customers across Manchester and surrounding areas. You will be on the road 4 to 5 days per week, with occasional overnight stays required.

    Being an experienced Mechanical/Refrigeration or Electrical Engineer and based from home, you will travel to your customer appointments, delivering excellent customer service at all times. 

    You will be tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to schools, universities, hospitals, and other laboratory environments. You will work closely with your fellow Field Engineers, supporting them with projects and maintaining great communication with the service administration team.

    We will supply you with the tools and test equipment you require as well as a company vehicle in order to fulfil your role to the very highest standard.  Previous experience working within a similar industry would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
    • Be able to Coordinate your own work schedule with a proactive approach and in a highly organised manner.
    • Ability to trouble shoot analytically and problem-solve.
    • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
    • Assuring the highest level of Customer Experience to achieve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Producing and supplying timely and accurate reports of your activities to the customer and administration team: e.g. Electronic service/calibration reports and expense submissions.
    • A strong team player, working remotely with the ability to connect with colleagues and management.
    • Self-motivated, and ability to work under pressure.
    • Full driving license required.
