Chemical Sales Manager

Position Summary:  

Responsible for sales of the SLS Chemical product portfolio, your primary role will be to grow chemical revenues via both direct selling effort with key customers and through the provision of support and training for our wider sales team.  

SLS carry a portfolio of leading chemical brands and the successful applicant will lead the continued growth of this important part of our business. Previous demonstrable field sales success and an in-depth knowledge of the laboratory chemicals market are essential.  

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Achieve target revenues set by the company
  • Support and train the SLS general sales team to grow chemical sales
  • Visit customers directly to promote and sell the product portfolio
  • Liaise with Chemical Manufacturers to build  and deliver on sales plans   

Attributes & Skills Required  

  • Strong sales skills/experience

SLS Select Education Technical Sales Representative - M62 and North

SLS Select Education are experiencing a period of sustained growth and as a result, we require a new Territory Sales Representative for the M62 & North of England region. You will be the face of the company selling and supporting a broad range of science products and services to schools and colleges in the region. 

SLS Select Education is a division of Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), the UK's fastest growing scientific supplier.

Experience or knowledge of school science products is highly desirable and so this role may suit a candidate with experience of working as a Science/Laboratory Technician. Prior sales experience is desirable but we are open to candidates looking for a first role in field based sales. Commercial awareness, technical and communication skills are all key to this role. Ideally the candidate will be located near or around the M62 but applications from across this sales area will be considered.

As a member of the SLS Select Education team you must be self-motivated and keen to thrive on the flexibility and ownership of workload we give to our staff. A full driving licence is essential for the role as candidates should expect to be out in the field visiting customers a minimum of 4 days per week. We will consider applicants who wish to work term time only.

Life Science Sales Specialist – Southern Territory

Position Summary

This role is at the forefront of driving the sales of all Life Science Products directly to customers and via the Field Sales Team in the Southern Territory. The ideal candidate would have an extensive knowledge of the Life Science sector ideally with research experience in the cell biology and/or molecular biology. Previous selling experience is preferable.     

Primary Duties         

  • Achieve Sales target set by the company
  • Visit customers to promote and sell the SLS Life Science range
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Force
  • Support the Field Sales Team with customer visits and demonstrations or any other required field activity
  • Attend joint customer visits with our key supplier Account Managers
  • Work with key suppliers and the TSM/RSM’s to create selling strategies and regional Marketing Promotions
  • Monitor personal sales against target for the Life Science product range

Attributes & Skills Required

  • Broad experience of Life Science consumables and equipment across all disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of Life Science Research and it’s applications
  • Relationship builder
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

Telephone Account Manager

To retain and pro-actively grow customer accounts by establishing and maintaining strong relationships through regular account management and to maximise sales target.

Other primary goals are to increase products brought through the customer base and develop new business.

The applicant must be able to understand a diverse range of products ensuring that knowledge of features and pricing is up to date.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Deliver a first class customer experience 
  • Account management of existing customer base 
  • Targeting and reviving former SLS customers 
  • Developing new business opportunities where possible 
  • Managing quotations 
  • Maximising revenue by cross, associated and up-selling
  • Driving new messages through customer channels including promotions available
  • Hold strong internal relationships and use this resource to further enhance the customer experience and assure delivery of goods in a timely and efficient manner
  • Process orders and ensure that your customer is kept up-to-date at all times including after-sales
  • Mange and prioritise own work load
  • To achieve all set KPI's and targets

Ideal candidate

  • Self-starter who can motivate themselves and others with a strong desire to work to, and surpass, targets
  • Strong customer service ethics 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Be comfortable on the phone with a clear telephone manner (this job is approx. 75% outbound calling)
  • Ability to problem solve -  identifying a client's needs and respond accordingly
  • Able to prioritise work load 
  • Be organised and methodical
  • Responsive and reactive
  • Conscientious, hardworking and will give 100% at all times

Minimum qualifications and relevant experience  

  • Previous sales/account management experience preferred    
  • Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft applications
