  • Marketing Executive

    At Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) we are currently looking for a Marketing Executive to join our ever-growing team as the UK’s largest independent supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables. Because of our independence we are unique in the market, and we are looking for someone who will relish the opportunity of being a part of a fast-paced, flexible and dynamic Marketing team whilst providing a key role in strategizing and developing the Marketing promotional activity.

    Through sustained growth, SLS continue to take significant leaps in the laboratory market as our business model allows us to be flexible to market conditions and jump on opportunities as they present themselves. Working with a portfolio of 4,000 suppliers and over 600,000 products, this role will encompass all aspects of modern Marketing activity.

    On a day-to-day basis, your role will include:

    •  Integral in the preparation and delivery of effective trade shows and exhibitions.
    •  Management of marketing exhibition collateral stock levels
    •  Uses market research and analysis of ongoing activity to advise on marketing strategy and   planning
    •  Working closely with the marketing teams to support marketing plans for all media   channels and the sales teams/divisions
    •  Supports and promotes the creative development of promotional materials, catalogues,   website content, advertisements, and other marketing-related projects
    •  Build and maintain relationships with various suppliers’ colleagues and customers
    •  Copywriting, and proofreading for a range of marketing materials including press releases,   content, social media content and case studies

    Your background:

    •  Educated to Degree level in related subject.
    •  Knowledge of marketing promotion methods, practices, and techniques, able to leverage a   broad mix of marketing activities to generate demand for revenue increase, including   integrated campaigns, public relations, content, and digital marketing.
    •  Ability to create marketing collateral and product value to enable business revenue and   meet customer needs.
    •  Demonstrable evidence of a strong ability to deliver marketing activities that generate new   leads and build relationships with existing external customers and internal stakeholders.
    •  Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and deliver key tasks in   a timely manner, as well as the flexibility to adapt quickly to changing demands in a fast   moving and complex business environment.
    •  Demonstrable ability to work independently and on your own initiative as well as being a   strong team player.
    •  Knowledge of scientific communications is desirable to set a context for planning and   delivering marketing objectives based on an understanding of customer needs and   competitor activities.
    •  The ability to solve problems, challenges, and obstacles.
    •  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Business Sector Manager - Biotech & Pharma

    Business Sector Manager – Biotech & Pharma

    The Role

    A rare opportunity to lead national sector strategy with autonomous ownership of key relationships. Reporting to the Head of Business Sectors the successful candidate will maintain and expand current relationships with existing biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies both directly and indirectly through membership networks and consortia. This is a hybrid type role spanning senior key account management activities, but also exploring business development opportunities and contract management. Day to day sales activities at these accounts will be managed by our extensive field-based Territory Sales Managers (TSM’s). This role is managing the overall national strategy leveraging on key contacts and professional procurement officers facilitating TSM access to accounts. Working closely with Regional Managers and other Business Heads this is a key role in delivering our company growth milestones.

    You can be based anywhere in the mainland UK within reason. The role will be home based with the expectation to visit key accounts and customer sites as and when current restrictions allow. Working closely with TSM’s you will facilitate and coordinate joint meetings paving the way for follow up sales activities in keeping with your overall sector strategy.

    Ideal Candidate

    • Scientific sales background ideally with sector responsibility or key account management experience.
    • Experience working with Biotech/Pharma customer sector is a must, ideally with additional experience and existing relationships at membership organisations. Examples of which: OBN, One Nucleus, Bionow and BIA as well as procurement services companies such as Amici.
    • A practical lab-based background is preferred but not essential
    • Able to communicate effectively internally and externally
    • Consultative approach with the ability to bring working groups and parties together
    • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
    • IT literate with experience of CRM and BI packages essential

  • Product Manager

    SLS are the UK’s largest independent supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables. Because of our independence, we have a unique approach to sourcing and supplying the highest quality, best value products and brands.  Supplying to a wide range of sectors, provides a diverse and interesting customer base as well as providing countless opportunity to grow and expand.

    To keep pace with customer demands and the growth we have seen over 2020/2021, we are recruiting a Product Manager on a permanent basis.

    The role of Product Manager is key within SLS and is responsible for the effective management of data and activity associated with existing products and the creation of new products on the business system.

    Working as part of the product management team within the marketing department, this role involves engagement with suppliers and our Supplier Sales Management (SSM) team to ensure we present the right products in our catalogues, websites and other publications effectively.  Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of product data and play a key part in developing publications and web content to communicate key messages effectively.

    • Management of data associated with existing products including categorisation, descriptions and digital assets
    • Responsible for managing item life cycle from the creation of products to their discontinuation
    • Gathering and editing rich content (extended descriptions and specification tables) for loading onto our Content Management Systems
    • Proof reading of marketing materials and catalogues
    • Competitor analysis – understanding our competitor’s product offering and price positioning.  Identifying strengths and weaknesses
    • Product cross referencing including identifying alternatives to discontinued products
    • In conjunction with sales and marketing management, the implementation and measurement of effective promotional programmes
    • Identifying gaps in the product portfolio or catalogues and working with suppliers and SSMs to fill them

    About You

    • The ability to focus on detail Experienced in data handling and MS Excel
    • Laboratory experience or previous experience in the laboratory supplies market an advantage
    • Team player and able to prioritise high priority tasks against urgent tasks
    • Self-motivated and a self-starter
    • Educated to degree level in a science subject or alternatively a number of years’ experience of working in a laboratory environment
    • High standard of computer literacy in all Microsoft Office packages
    • A marketing qualification would be an added advantage

  • Field Service Engineer

    Supplying to a wide range of sectors, provides a diverse and interesting customer base as well as providing countless opportunity to grow and expand. We are looking to recruit a Field Engineer.

    Being an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, you will be looking to specialise your skills into a more technical area. Being based from home each day, you will attend your customer appointments, delivering excellent customer service at all times. 

    You will be tasked with the installation, repair and maintenance of technical equipment to schools, universities, hospitals, laboratories and other technical environments. You will work closely with your fellow Field Engineers, supporting them with particular projects and maintaining great communication with your office based Service Coordinator.

    We will supply you with the tools and test equipment you require as well as a company vehicle in order to be able to do your job to the very highest level.  

    In addition to your technical skills, we will also look for you to complete job sheets, parts order requisitions and expenses.

  • Sales Order Processing Administrator

    We currently have a full-time role available within the Sales Order Processing team.

    You will be responsible for processing all orders received via the website and customer facing portals.

    Duties and responsibilities   

    • Importing orders & processing orders  
    • Sanity checking to ensure customer details and pricing is correct  
    • Updating systems with relevant delivery dates  
    • Updating customers where applicable  
    • Liaising with internal departments to ensure product codes are established    
    • Updating of spread-sheets
