Angiotensin II functions as a vasoconstrictor and controls cardiovascular function. It maintains water-sodium homeostasis,modulates cellular proliferation andvascular remodelling of renin-angiotensin system. Angiotensin II has inflammatory effects.

Synthetic angiotensin agonist that is involved in the regulation of blood pressure, water consumption, and hydromineral balance in fish.

General description

Angiotensin II is a renin-angiotensin system (RAS) effector molecule, which binds to angiotensin II type-1 (AT₁R) and angiotensin II type-2 (AT₂R) receptors. The gene is located on human chromosome 3q24. Angiotensin II is mainly expressed in vessel walls, lung and kidney.
