18:2 Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is an active ingredient of gintonin, which is a bioactive ligand of ginseng. LPA is synthesized in plants by the activity of the enzyme glycerol 3-phosphate acyltransferase (GPAT). LPA is an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphatidic acid (PA) and other phospholipids.
