16:0 TopFluor^® cholesterol carries saturated acyl chains. Approximately 30-40% of the mammalian plasma membrane consists of cholesterol. TopFluor^® has a moiety, called dipyrromethene boron difluoride. This fluorescent molecule is covalently attached to various lipid molecules.
