Application
Kaiser test kit can be used for the detection of free amino functional groups. This test kit is commonly used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and solid phase organic synthesis (SPOS) to determine the completion of amino acid coupling reactions to avoid the formation of incomplete peptide chains. It is also a useful reagent to monitor the deprotection reactions in peptide synthesis by reacting with the deprotected N-terminal amino group of the peptide-resin to produce a deep blue color. This test does not produce typical dark blue color with serine, asparagine, aspartic acid, and proline (secondary amine). Kaiser test Kit contains phenol, 80% in ethanol, KCN in H2O/ pyridine and Ninhydrin, 6% in ethanol.
