L-glutamate plays key roles in development, learning, memory, plasticity and cognition. It plays crucial role in the pathogenesis of neuropathological diseases such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, stroke, ischemia, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Huntington’;s disease and Parkinson’;s disease.
