General description
Potent inflammatory agent, primarily because of its actions on polymorphonuclear leukocytes that include chemotaxis, aggregation, degranulation, and stimulation of adherence to vascular endothelium. Stimulates c-fos and c-jun proto-oncogene transcription in human monocytes. Involved in the pathogenesis of postischemic cerebral edema.
