SLS Develop LInks with China

International Regional Sales Manager Charlie Fullerton was pleased to meet Mr. Sun Wei, the Commercial Officer at the UK Trade & Investment, based in Beijing, China. The meeting was organised by the International Agri-Technology Centre (IATC), and was held at their offices at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. The one-to-one meeting covered developing business opportunities in China, how to conduct business and marketing for the region, potential exhibitions & events to attend, and the services available to SLS from the UKTI and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). The meeting was informative and useful, and will allow SLS to continue to grow in this important market.



Richard Rhodes Adds the University of Nottingham Account

Since Alex Hall went on Maternity Leave 8 months ago, Richard Rhodes has been looking after the Nottingham University account and from June 2010 he will take over the University of Nottingham permanently. His seven years at SLS have taught him a lot about the specialist needs of the further education sector, especially his work with the university's neighbours Nottingham Trent University.

Scientific Laboratory Show

Thursday 10 June 2010 saw records broken when over 600 members of the Scientific Community from home and abroad attended the Scientific Laboratory Show and Conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.

The Scientific Laboratory Show was co hosted by Scientific Laboratory Supplies Ltd, (SLS), and Sigma Aldrich Ltd, (SIAL), and featured 100's of new product presentations and techniques from over 60 leading industry manufacturers. In conjunction, The United Kingdom Science Parks Association, (UKSPA), ran a Conference and Debate programme coupled with a topical series of workshops making the day a serious event of real scientific value.

New Territory Sales Manager for the Northern Team

Scientific Lab Supplies (SLS) announce the arrival of a new territory sales manager for the West Midlands. Amar Rauf joined the SLS Sales Team in early June 2010 and will take responsibility for supporting our West Midlands customers with immediate effect. Amar has a strong scientific background, having completed a bachelor's degree in Biology with Biomedicine and a Masters in Infection and Immunity at The University of Leeds. Prior to accepting the position at SLS, Amar worked at Sterilin Ltd as an Account Manager. Before this he took on a number of research posts at companies such as Conva Tech and Novartis.

Trade Mission to Rome

On 25 May Charlie Fullerton, our International Regional Sales Manager, attended the International Agri-Technology Centre (IATC) in Rome. The visit was organised in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment and its aim was to meet with representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and The World Food Programme (WFP).

SLS were one of 16 companies to participate on this trade mission, and all who attended found the meetings useful and informative. SLS are now registered with the UN Global Marketplace, and will be eligible to receive invitations to bid from all UN Agencies, expanding further our global sales sectors.



Prize Draw Doubles Traffic to the New Scientific Laboratory Supplies Website

Following the award of their £10,000 prize draw, Scientific Laboratory Supplies Ltd (SLS) have reported that the initiative doubled traffic to their new website which has now been live for several months. The prize draw was entered by almost 600 SLS customers via the new website and was won by the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research (PICR) at the University of Manchester.

ArabLab 2010

Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) once again exhibited at the ArabLab Exhibition in Dubai, underlining the importance placed on this region. By attracting people from countries across the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Sub-Continent, China and Asia it allows us to meet our existing network of distributors, as well as new companies to build on the growing list of principal partners.

We would like to thank all those who came to see us on our stand in the UK Pavillion. The exhibition was well attended and we enjoyed a busy time throughout. One new company to come and talk about developing business with us was Bio Medical Scientific Services (BMSS), with Sales Representative Sheila Adriano discussing a local visit by International Regional Sales Manager Ed Cipko, as well as the launch of the new catalogue in June.

SLS will be at the next ArabLab exhibition from 7th to 10th March 2011, again in Dubai. We look forward to seeing you there.

SLS Becomes Distributor for Sigma

Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS), supplier of laboratory equipment and consumables, has signed a regional distributor partnership agreement with Sigma-Aldrich, a leading manufacturer and supplier of laboratory chemicals and reagents, to sell Sigma's products in the east and the south east of England.

"The research laboratory market in the UK is in many sectors with thousands of laboratories, and the partnership with SLS is an effective way for Sigma to extend its distribution network," said Sam Cain, marketing manager of Sigma-Aldrich. "We chose our distributor partner very carefully, based on its knowledge and understanding of the market and its customer base. SLS has both the office support and the field representation to communicate with customers face-to-face and talk about Sigma-Aldrich products, bringing us closer to the customers."

Sigma and SLS will launch a new catalogue, available through the SLS website on request, containing the most commonly used laboratory reagents and chemicals from Sigma-Aldrich. The distributor agreement allows scientists to place orders with SLS online, and products are shipped directly from Sigma under its usual next-day service.

New Territory Sales Manager for the Manchester region

Kate Lupton joined SLS as Territory Sales Manager for Manchester from the 14th July. With a background in Forensic Science, Kate has also worked for Ecolab, a supplier of cleaning, food safety and health protection products as a Territory Sales Manager and has Analytical Lab experience with Muller Dairy UK. Kate's previous experience will ensure that she is able to relate to the needs of our end users whilst also having a broader understanding of our market.

Trained as a Microbiological and Biomedical scientist, Nicola has previously worked for both Biohit and VWR in Key Account Management or Sales Specialist roles and has extensive knowledge of the laboratory supplies market and its customers.

IKA chooses SLS to Distribute IKA Blue Line products in the UK

Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), the leading source of laboratory equipment and consumables is delighted to announce it has been granted full distribution rights to the world renowned IKA Blue Line range of laboratory equipment. IKA is acknowledged as a leading manufacturer of laboratory and processing equipment with products which cover a wide range of laboratory applications including; mixing / stirring, crushing, heating and distilling.
