SLS bringing Büchi to new customers

Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) are pleased to announce a new business venture with Swiss manufacturer Büchi (www.buchi.co.uk). Enjoying an enviable position in a number of markets including rotary evaporation and food analysis, Büchi have chosen to partner with SLS as a new UK distributor.

SLS Help Local School

When Chris Coleman, manager of the Medical School Stores at the University of Nottingham, decided to donate surplus glassware to a local school, there was a natural choice of partner to help him make his generous offer possible – Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS).

SLS raise £1000 for Children with Cancer

SLS personnel and customers attended the Children with Cancer Charity Ball on Saturday 19th November. Hosted at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, it was a celebrity event with spectacular entertainment and fantastic prizes in a Grand Auction.

As an official back of shirt sponsor for Hull City AFC, SLS donated a Nick Barmby shirt, signed by the team to the Children with Cancer Charity Ball. The shirt raised a fantastic amount of £1000, which went towards the grand total of £220,623.

SLS donate Hull City AFC signed shirt to Babraham Institute

SLS donated a Hull City AFC signed shirt to Babraham Institute which helped to raise over £2,200 for the British Heart Foundation.

Michael Norden from the Babraham Institute organised a Fund Raising event in aid of the British Heart Foundation on Saturday 8th October. The event was to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Michael’s heart operation as well as the 50th anniversary of the British Heart Foundation.

Over 100 people attended the event; which included a live singer, disco, a magician and casino tables. All prizes were sponsored by suppliers and SLS donated a Hull City AFC shirt, signed by the team and an Amazon £50 voucher.

A successful night, enjoyed by all!

Successful Coup Exhibition for SLS

SLS attended the bi-annual COUP (Conference on University Purchasing) event last month (September).

The event was attended by 120 senior procurement/purchasing contacts throughout the UK and Ireland. All had great exposure to our message of being tailored, flexible, fast and customer-focussed. General feedback was incredibly positive with the perception of SLS’ position in the market being as high as it’s ever been. It’s absolutely clear that we are very much seen as one of the “big three” by our customer base now …..a fantastic achievement for a business not yet turned 21! That brilliant progress will continue as we carry on with our bespoke-service message to customers and as we keep consistently delivering top notch service on a day to day basis.

SLS Receive Environment Index ‘High Scoring New Entrant’ Award

Business in the Community (BiTC) - Yorkshire and Humber has recognised Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) as a ‘High scoring new entrant’ in the 2011 Environment Index, as a result of their focussed approach to environmental management and performance. SLS, established in 1991, have also been accredited with a Bronze award for achieving a 75% index score; well above the 48% average achieved by 2011’s other new entrants

HULL CITY AFC ANNOUNCE SLS AS SHIRT SPONSOR

Qatar and UAE Visit

Our International Distributor Manager, Charlie Fullerton, has just returned from a successful visit to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. He was there to support the local distributors and visit their important customers, including Government Ministry’s, Universities, the health sector and petrochemical & gas industries, and included a visit to the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). The trip gave a useful insight into the two important markets, and enabled SLS to show their capabilities and full support to their flourishing distributor network. SLS are committed to developing strong business relationships with their distributors and will continue country visits to promote SLS.

Scientific Laboratory Supplies Ltd (SLS) announces its Preferred Supplier Status with the OBN Purchasing Scheme. SLS are one of two suppliers appointed with exclusive coverage on several key brands including Becton Dickinson, Gilson and Nalge. The multi-million pound two year contract means that medtech and biotech companies, who are members of OBN, benefit from great savings off list prices for laboratory supplies. Arablab 2011

Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) once again exhibited at the ArabLab Exhibition in Dubai, underlining the importance we place on this region. As one of the leading international shows for the laboratory industry it attracts visitors from countries across the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Sub-Continent, China and Asia. The exhibition allows us to meet our existing network of distributors, as well as new companies to build on our growing list of principal partners.

We would like to thank all those who came to see us on our stand in the UK Pavilion. The exhibition was attended by over 8,000 visitors from over 80 countries and we enjoyed a busy and productive time throughout.

SLS put on their dancing shoes to support the Children with Leukaemia Charity Ball

SLS staff were honoured to be invited to the Children with Leukaemia Charity Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel on the 13th November. Having received the invitation from Kay Tott at the Wolfson Institute, Hayley Holmes, Sandie Hurley and Nicola Brick all donned their party dresses to support the cause.

In this ultimate quiz challenge, 7 enthusiastic teams took to their tables and put their heads together - closely so as not to tempt eavesdroppers! The night was hosted by SLS Territory Sales Manager, Nicola Brick, and tickets cost just £1 which went straight into the prize fund.

SLS are pleased to announce, that after successfully reducing their environmental impact for the previous 2 years, the organisation has achieved accreditation to the Environmental Management System (EMS) standard ISO14001: 2004.

ISO14001 is a systematic standard that has been designed to assist organisations in reducing their impact upon the environment; it is widely considered to be the most sought after environmental standard within UK industry.

SLS Develop Links with China

International Regional Sales Manager Charlie Fullerton was pleased to meet Mr. Sun Wei, the Commercial Officer at the UK Trade & Investment, based in Beijing, China. The meeting was organised by the International Agri-Technology Centre (IATC), and was held at their offices at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. The one-to-one meeting covered developing business opportunities in China, how to conduct business and marketing for the region, potential exhibitions & events to attend, and the services available to SLS from the UKTI and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). The meeting was informative and useful, and will allow SLS to continue to grow in this important market.

Wayne Rooney Shirt 'Kicks-off' Week for SLS Competition Winner

He thought it was all over... then he scored first prize in the SLS draw!

Stephen Elliot, a Senior Technician in the department of Physics at Nottingham Trent University won the signed and framed Wayne Rooney England shirt at the 2010 Scientific Laboratory Show.

Thursday 10 June 2010 saw records broken when over 600 members of the Scientific Community from home and abroad attended the Scientific Laboratory Show and Conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.

The Scientific Laboratory Show was co hosted by Scientific Laboratory Supplies Ltd, (SLS), and Sigma Aldrich Ltd, (SIAL), and featured 100's of new product presentations and techniques from over 60 leading industry manufacturers. In conjunction, The United Kingdom Science Parks Association, (UKSPA), ran a Conference and Debate programme coupled with a topical series of workshops making the day a serious event of real scientific value.

Trade Mission to Rome

On 25 May Charlie Fullerton, our International Regional Sales Manager, attended the International Agri-Technology Centre (IATC) in Rome. The visit was organised in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment and its aim was to meet with representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and The World Food Programme (WFP).

SLS were one of 16 companies to participate on this trade mission, and all who attended found the meetings useful and informative. SLS are now registered with the UN Global Marketplace, and will be eligible to receive invitations to bid from all UN Agencies, expanding further our global sales sectors.
