Customer Service Coordinator

As an integral part of a busy Customer Service Team you will be required to offer full support to customers and sales managers within an allotted region of the country.

You will be responsible for supporting our customers with their daily enquiries, placing their orders and resolving any queries they may have to a very high standard. 

An essential part of your role is to learn and understand the requirements of your sales manager and customers through building relationships, delivering service excellence and exceeding expectations.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Deliver a first class customer experience 
  • To be able to communicate clearly and have the ability to work closely with your Sales Manager and other internal departments in order to ensure continuity of service and assure delivery in a timely and efficient manner
  • Place orders and ensure that your customer is kept up to date at all times with the progression of their order
  • Manage and prioritise own work load Take ownership to ensure tasks are completed fully
  • Achieve pre-defined KPI’s and targets

Telephone Account Manager

To retain and pro-actively grow customer accounts by establishing and maintaining strong relationships through regular account management and to maximise sales target.

Other primary goals are to increase products brought through the customer base and develop new business.

The applicant must be able to understand a diverse range of products ensuring that knowledge of features and pricing is up to date.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Deliver a first class customer experience 
  • Account management of existing customer base 
  • Targeting and reviving former SLS customers 
  • Developing new business opportunities where possible 
  • Managing quotations 
  • Maximising revenue by cross, associated and up-selling
  • Driving new messages through customer channels including promotions available
  • Hold strong internal relationships and use this resource to further enhance the customer experience and assure delivery of goods in a timely and efficient manner Process orders and ensure that your customer is kept up to date at all times including after-sales
  • Mange and prioritise own work load
  • To achieve all set KPI's and Targets

Ideal candidate

Marketing Assistant

Initially a 10 month contract with potential for being made permanent.

To Support the Publications and Communications manager as well as the wider business in the management of shows/exhibitions, the provision of samples for customers and the sales force and the maintenance of mailing lists.

Key Duties and responsibilities  

  • Play a key role in the biennial show and conference from helping to plan the event to execution this will involve working closely with internal and external people and suppliers
  • Be on hand to support any other shows that the company is attending
  • Manage on-site exhibition activity by organising the supply/collection of kit to/from the sales force
  • Manage an effective and cost-efficient process for the supply of samples
  • Manage customer catalogue provision and assist the Publications and Communications Manager in the cleaning and preparation of the CRM based catalogue mailing list prior to the distribution of the biennial catalogue
  • Ongoing maintenance and updating of the SLS and SE email and mailing lists to be drawn upon throughout the year for email blasts and promo/catalogue mailing
  • Distribution of promotional literature/calendars to sales force
  • To capture and co-ordinate SLS statistics/figures and other marketing information to support presentations and publications 
  • Liaise with catalogue printers to obtain new stock of catalogues

Ideal Candidate

You will be an out-going team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.  An interest in events planning would be beneficial and an ability to keep focussed and calm under pressure is key.  Strong organisational skills are a must with the ability to work to tight deadlines when required.

Knowledge of Excel and Word is required along with good keyboard skills.

This role offers the right candidate to take ownership and develop in to a marketeer and potentially a permanent, full time member of the SLS team.

Marketing Executive: Desk Top Publishing & Catalogue CMS

To support the Publications and Communications Manager in the management of the Matrix CMS Software as the internal expert, supporting the broader Marketing team in the production of all publications. 

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Take responsibility for the Matrix Catalogue Management System, supporting the Marketing and Product Management team. Including:

   - Ensuring all relevant data is clean and accurate with correct information in the appropriate fields 

   - Ensuring that the server is maintained on an ongoing basis, archiving old data and removing redundant data

   - The mass uploading of data into the CMS 

   - Working closely with the Publications and Communications Manager to ensure that the Matrix CMS software and business relationship works effectively and efficiently

- Working with the wider business and sales specialists to collate existing materials or content to create new artwork or text

   - Positioning of artwork and text on the variation of page layouts available, selecting formatting properties such as text size, column width and spacing 

  • Management of product images and their appearance in all publications including the website for both SLS and Select Education. Including:

    - Identifying and replacing any images because they are out of date, unclear (low res) or provide an inaccurate representation of products

   - Identifying and resolving issues associated with web site entries with missing images or content

  - Reviewing monthly reports on all images that are added/replaced an on-going basis

  - Assist in the collation and management of website digital assets 

  • Communicating with suppliers to gather accurate product data/images and ensure that all relationships with internal and external customers/suppliers are maintained in a positive and pro-active manner
  • Operate as an integral part of the proofing process identifying and implementing suggested changes/amends as required on preliminary layouts
  • Using the Matrix CMS to produce a range of catalogues and publications in InDesign for both SLS and Select Education, ensuring accurate and high-quality results at all times
  • Use InDesign to produce other marketing collateral as required following a specific brief e.g. flyers, posters etc.
  • Adhere to style and production guidelines to produce all marketing output
  • Maintain a supplier marketing contacts database
  • Any other reasonable activity as identified by the Publications & Marketing Communications Manager or Directors

Ideal Candidate

  • Good working knowledge of InDesign
  • Good working knowledge of CMS systems (ideally Matrix CMS)
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Desktop publishing experience is a must
  • A team player who can work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Graphic design experience would be an advantage

Service Engineer - Laboratory Equipment

To provide preventative maintenance, installation and repair to a wide range of preparative laboratory equipment including media preparation equipment, centrifuges, incubators, ovens, CO2 incubators, stirrers, shakers, vacuum systems, heating devices, filtration systems, and any other equipment where experience, knowledge and training means work can be completed safely and proficiently.

Duties and responsibilities 

Predominantly covering England and Wales, approximately 70% of the Service Engineers time will be field based servicing and maintaining laboratory equipment, equipment breakdowns, completing installations, demonstrations, end user staff training, supporting our nationwide sales team, etc. In order to manage these field based visits efficiently there will occasionally be the need to stay away overnight and in some instances there may be the requirement for an early morning start. It is anticipated that the remainder of the Service Engineers time will be based at the service centre in Nottingham. Whilst based at the workshop the focus will be on bench repairs, new product assembly, calibration and testing, new product evaluation and in rare instances building up and testing basic electrical controls such as timers, temperature controls, etc. 

Experience

The candidate will ideally have experience servicing and repairing equipment in a laboratory environment, such as media preparation equipment, centrifuges, incubators, shakers, stirrers, mixers, balances, filtration systems, vacuum systems. They need to have a sound electro-mechanical base, with electrical understanding, and the ability to logically fault find

Minimum Qualifications and Relevant Attributes

  • ONC, HNC, BTEC, City & Guilds qualification in an electro-mechanical discipline
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of the laboratory industry preferable though not essential
  • Computer literate
  • Full clean driving licence

Sales Specialist – Group Specialities - North

As a Sales Specialist you will build and maintain customer relationships in order to develop Sales and Margin on a focussed product portfolio in the North of England.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Your specific responsibilities will include identifying and developing key target sites for new business opportunities, including implementing action plans against key focus products whilst working with our supply partners and Territory Sales Managers in the targeted accounts.
  • Alongside our marketing team, you will also identify opportunities to expand our range of products and supply partners assisting them to bring these new opportunities to market

Ideal Candidate

  • Ideally with a background in Life Science or associated discipline, you will understand the needs of our customers and possess the high level of technical knowledge required to provide them with the expert consultancy they need. 
  • Based within or close to the geographical territory, you’re someone who wants to further your own personal development, working for a company where your ideas are valued and where you have the opportunity to influence new and developing product ranges. 
  • Have a background in Life Science or an associated discipline, a sound knowledge of Liquid Handling would be preferable. You will be self-motivated, flexible in approach, able to demonstrate the ability to manage accounts and to exceed sales targets and demanding goals

Warehouse Operative

To contribute to all activities of Warehouse Ops team 11.00 – 19.00 shift

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Picking, packing, preparing goods for despatch including loading of vehicles
  • Unloading, receipt, acceptance of goods into the warehouse including appropriate put away to stock location and routing via QC where necessary
  • Exhibit a conscientious and professional attitude towards all tasks performed including contribution to team output targets
  • Other tasks reasonably requested by the Warehouse and Distribution Manager or Team Leader
